The Construction Superintendent is to perform site management tasks related to building renovations and repair, building and parking lot expansions, interior fit outs, MEP upgrades, and other construction, facility maintenance, or JOC projects. They coordinate closely with local points of contact at the facility, the project manager, and subcontractors. They always maintain health and safety requirements and quality control of the site. They document all project activities to ensure all project stakeholders remain informed throughout the project field effort.     
  
Location: Projects will be in these locations: MA, RI, NH, VT, MI, East PA, and South NJ 
  
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:     
  • Directly responsible for day-to-day supervision of project site and supervise and schedule all subcontractors, consultants, and vendors daily. The superintendent shall ensure adequate manpower is provided by subcontractors for each task being performed.
  • Perform quality control duties and responsibilities regarding the work being performed.
  • Communication with project team regarding Project Drawings, RFI’s, Shop Drawings, and Material Submittals.
  • Communicates with client daily about project schedule/progress and safety concerns.
  • Participates in QC audits reports, assists in work plan and QC plan development.
  • Perform all aspects of managing the construction job site.
  • Perform all project assignments safely, in a technically appropriate and cost-effective manner, and within established schedules and budgets.
  • Ability to comprehend all construction drawings and details and ensure work is performed in accordance with the design.
  • Act as liaison with the project manager, owner, regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and/or internal departments on technical, safety, and quality related matters as required.
  • Prepare 3 week look ahead schedules based on the baseline schedule and provide ongoing scheduling input to Project Management staff for all scheduling efforts.
  • Coordinate the daily activities for all subcontractors at any stage of construction.
  • Complete all project construction in accordance with design, budget, and schedule.
  • Ensure all parties follow all safety procedures and practices according to both OSHA and company requirements.
  • Conduct pre-installation safety evaluations and action plans with contractors to ensure work activities are conducted in the safest manner possible.
  • Review and document subcontractors JHA paperwork at the beginning of each shift.
  • Properly respond to onsite incidents and emergencies per company procedures.
  • Schedule and participate in necessary inspections required by local and state regulations.
  • Organize final inspections for completed work.
  • Maintain “as-built” drawings.
  • Resolve field conflicts.
  • Maintain consistent daily communication with project management staff to ensure all parties are informed of current project status and potential issues affecting progress.
  • Assist with quality control functions per contract requirements (submittal reviews, daily reports, preparatory meetings, and other quality control program features) to ensure project document controls are following contract requirements.
  • Direct and coordinate subcontractor activities.
  • Complete daily/weekly field reports with photos.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:     
  • High School Diploma plus minimum 5+ years of construction/quality control experience.
  • Ability to manage and lead multiple subcontractors.
  • Must be able to conduct site visits and provide oversight for multiple projects throughout each day.
  • Having experience in JOC or USPS projects is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills (Verbal & Written).
  • Able to meet time sensitive deadlines and carry out multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Working knowledge of construction and project management software
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
The following certifications are preferred but not required:  
  • Construction Quality Management Certification.
  • OSHA 30-hour training and HAZWOPER.
  • First Aid & CPR
The pay for this position ranges from $90,000-$130,000 a year. Actual starting pay is dependent upon experience, education, or other bona fide factors. This position may be eligible for PTO, health and dental insurance, and/or 401(k) benefits upon meeting certain length of service and hours requirements.
