Flux is currently representing our client, an established utility company based in the Pacific Northwest to find a Station Design Engineering (Engineering level 1 or 2). This position is located in Portland, OR.

(hybrid role, 3 days in office)

Pay range: $45-$52/hr 

Position Summary:

 

Oversee design engineering, planning and coordination of projects requiring a higher level of project management and/or technical knowledge.  Provide design and project management expertise for our clients large commercial and industrial meter sets, district regulating stations, telemetry sites, and special projects as required.  Ensure service continuity and fulfillment of installation commitments while meeting customer needs, cost objectives, governmental requirements, and safety and engineering standards.

 

Position Responsibilities:

 

  • Oversees design engineering, planning, coordination, and monitoring of projects related to large commercial or industrial customers, district regulators and regional stations.  Provides cost analysis of alternatives to determine cost effective installation practices.
  • Responsible for special projects and technical studies from planning to final completion.
  • Provides design and project management expertise for our clients large commercial or industrial customer meter sets, regulating stations, telemetry sites, slip-on flange inspection program, atmospheric corrosion inspection program, and special projects. 
  • Maintains ongoing communication with local and state permit and regulatory agencies and contractors to protect the Company’s interest and coordinate construction activities. Responds to a variety of inquiries/concerns from customer, Company personnel or the general public; resolves by coordinating necessary resources.
  • Reviews and approves construction drawings within the territory to ensure engineering standards are followed. Coordinates with office and field personnel to optimize the use of resources
  • Participates in ongoing efforts to promote standardization, including technical writing, research and drafting of standards, specifications and procedures.
  • Assists in preparing budget, analyzing costs/benefits; continuously evaluates cost reduction and revenue enhancement opportunities.
  • This position may require travel.

 

Position Qualifications:

 

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably mechanical or civil engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Engineering (Level 1) requires 1-3 years of experience Engineering (Level 2) requires 3+ years of experience
  • Ability to register as a Professional Engineer (PE) is highly desired.  (not required)
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in construction-related work required or utility construction/installation. 
  • Demonstrated experience in a leadership role overseeing and coordinating complex planning and project implementation programs.
  • Ability to plan and effectively manage a wide variety of construction projects.
  • Demonstrated skill in organizing multiple tasks and managing time effectively to meet deadlines and balance priorities consistent with Company strategies and goals.
  • Knowledge and experience in the application of the following: federal pipeline safety rules, American Public Works Association, construction standards, and OSHA regulations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, government representatives and contractor personnel on technical matters governing construction projects.
  • Ability to analyze budget reports and construction summaries. 
  • Ability to develop new construction approaches and procedures.
