Electric Utility Power Storm Damage Assessor (Contractor)
We are rapidly growing and expanding in the Electrical Utility Transmission, Distribution, and Renewable Energy sectors throughout the nation. We thrive on providing exceptional support to our customers and are seeking professional Storm Damage Assessors with a minimum of 5 years of experience in utility distribution, transmission, and substation systems (operations, engineering, or construction).

Duties & Responsibilities:
- You must be able to identify primary and secondary electrical facilities such as poles, wires, transformers, and substations.
- You should be able to recognize potential hazards and unsafe work conditions, as well as determine the necessary crew size and equipment for restoration work.
- All work must be performed safely and in compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- You need to have knowledge of electrical distribution and transmission safety rules and procedures.
- You should be competent in distinguishing between electrical, cable, and telephone lines.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and identifying hazards with both energized and de-energized primary and secondary voltages is required.
- You may be required to take the lead on a two-person team responsible for patrolling distribution lines damaged by natural causes.
- You must identify all necessary repairs required for restoration and accurately report damage assessment.
- Utilize binoculars, cell phones, and radios as necessary to complete your tasks.
- You must be available for work during the utility’s required hours and until restoration work is completed.
- The ability to stand and scout through various terrain and weather conditions is necessary.
- You must also be willing to complete any follow-up work required by the utility.
- Uphold integrity in all aspects of your work.

Position requirements also include the ability to mobilize quickly to deploy to an event, safely approach and assess storm-related situations, use smartphones for communication and document scanning, recognize hazards and problems on electrical systems, complete documentation for various situations, provide safety guidance, understand crew capabilities, make safe and timely decisions, and project a professional image when representing the organization.

Additionally, you are expected to learn, practice, and promote all safety policies and procedures and perform any other duties as assigned.


Requirements:
The position requires walking along the power line right-of-ways in various weather and terrain conditions. -High school diploma or equivalent experience
-Previous storm industry experience, and the ability to follow directions, be flexible, and work well with others.
-Good documentation skills, integrity, knowledge of electrical distribution facilities and safety rules, good time management, and strong communication skills.
-Must have a valid driver's license and a suitable vehicle for business use, or be eligible to rent a car under the company's rental agreement.
-Current car insurance if using your own vehicle.
- The job may require extended hours, including day and night shifts, and you should be comfortable using a smartphone and basic mobile apps.

The contractor must be capable of meeting the physical demands necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While carrying out these duties, the contractor must be able to communicate effectively and listen. Additionally, the contractor will frequently need to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, and reach with hands and arms. The ability to drive for extended periods of time is required.

Other essential physical requirements include the ability to stand for extended periods, crouch, and kneel. The contractor must have the physical ability to walk or patrol on various terrains and in different weather conditions for prolonged periods of time and distances. Additionally, physical effort such as climbing, stooping, typing, texting, and keyboarding is necessary. The contractor should also be able to lift heavy objects, over 50 pounds, using safe lifting techniques.

Work Environment:
As part of this job, the contractor will often encounter fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. There may also be occasional exposure to extreme conditions at construction sites. The noise level at the work environment and job sites can be high, and the work will be performed in outdoor weather conditions. Competencies needed for this role include self-motivation, being team-oriented, and customer orientation. It is important to adhere to the company's safety rules and all other policies. When deployed, expect to be on site for an extended period of time. This position requires 100% travel, and the work schedule varies, including weekdays, weekends, nights, holidays, and on-call availability.

Proper Personal Equipment:   
Suitable and presentable clothing, including EH safety shoes, jackets, hats, rain gear, ice cleats, gloves, winter wear, and safety glasses, as well as any other items required by the client. You must wear the provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), which may include a safety traffic vest/shirt, hardhat, personal voltage detector (if applicable), and any other items specified by the client.
