Future Opportunities with FEMA

We are currently seeking 406 Mitigation (Project Manager Mid) in support of FEMA disaster relief efforts across the United States. Do you want to give back to communities? Do you want to travel across the country and have the travel expenses covered? We have ongoing needs for environmental specialist opportunities in support of FEMA’s Public Assistance program.

Expected pay: $50/hr.

What you will be doing:
• Must have 5 years of experience in a related field (with an undergraduate degree) or 10 years of experience in a related field.
• Should have thorough knowledge of PA eligibility, law, regulations, and policies.
• Must have the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines and rapidly identify and recommend solutions to issues, concerns, or problems that may arise during product development.
• Must have the ability to communicate orally and in writing in order to coordinate with others and formulate letters in response to correspondence and inquiries from internal/external stakeholders.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, i.e. Word
• Must have the ability to navigate the internet for research purposes.
• Must be competent in smart phone usage.
• Should be proficient with Grants Manager

Tasks:
o Develop cost-effective measures to eliminate or reduce future damages to damaged facilities.
o Develop measures to reduce repetitive damage-to-damage public facilities in accordance with Section 205 of the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000.
o Provide technical assistance to applicants in developing measures to reduce repetitive damage to damaged facilities and cost-effective mitigation measures for damaged facilities in accordance with FEMA’s policies and regulations.
o Evaluate the effectiveness of mitigation measures that have been implemented in accordance with approved Hazard Mitigation Proposals.
o Write reports, scopes of work and detailed correspondence with respect to program parameters and 406 Mitigation proposals.
o Develop agendas, conduct meetings, and record action items.
Every year, the continental US is affected by major hurricanes, tornadoes, flooding, snow storms and wildfires. This causes tremendous damage to infrastructure and our communities. Actual starting pay is dependent upon experience, education, or other bona fide factors. This position may be eligible for PTO, health and dental insurance, and/or 401(k) benefits upon meeting certain length of service and hours requirements.
