AECOM Tishman has an exciting opportunity for a seasoned construction leader in the Piedmont region of Virginia. As Project Director you will oversee a large-scale ground-up data center construction project. This role focuses on high-level strategy, leadership, planning and overall coordination of the CM’s on-site staff, project requirements and stakeholders.
  • Complete accountability for full project lifecycle, from pre-construction phase to commissioning/completion.
  • Project Director will be the primary liaison between the AECOM Tishman Project Executive team, design teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders/client(s).
  • In close collaboration with the general superintendent, direct day-to-day construction operations, and long-term strategic direction of the project, ensuring all milestones are met on time and within budget.
  • Assist with team building and recruitment of additional team members as needed.
  • Manage the project budget within set parameters and oversee change order process with management team
  • Champion and enforce a zero-incident safety culture
  • Liaison between local AHJ’s, inspectors and community.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
  • BA/BS Engineering, Construction Management or similar curriculum and 12 years of construction management experience, including 4 years of leadership or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Experience from a larger general contractor.
  • Experience in the oversight and management of large ground up construction projects such as: 
    • datacenters
    • higher-education
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Virginia state contractor license
  • Prior experience as a Project Executive or Project Director.
  • Strong knowledge of larger-scale building and construction.
  • Strong communication and team building skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Architectural, mechanical and technical knowledge, skills and abilities.
Physical Demands:
  • The following physical demands represent those typically required of individuals working in construction field roles, with or without accommodation.  Construction field positions require physical stamina and mobility, including the ability to climb ladders and stairs, use personnel hoists, and move through various terrain and active construction zones. Vision requirements include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Team members must be capable of using their hands to handle tools and materials, and perform activities such as sitting, standing, walking, speaking, hearing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Lifting and carrying materials weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted may be necessary on an occasional basis.
Work Environment:
  • Individuals in construction field roles work primarily on active job sites where exposure to environmental and job-related hazards is common, with or without accommodation. These environments may include proximity to heavy machinery, elevated work areas, airborne particles, varying weather conditions, and potential electrical risks. Noise levels may vary from moderate to high depending on the phase of construction. Employees may be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and must remain alert to ensure safety. Additional duties may be assigned as needed based on the scope and progress of the project.
