Flux Resources is seeking a Project Office Engineer to join on of our clients in North Carolina. This is a direct-hire opportunity paying in the $130,000-$160,000 range. 

The ‘Project Office Engineer’ is similar to a Construction Project/Resident Engineer. Open to both local and non-local candidates as the project budget does include lodging and M&IE per diem for travel. Ideal candidate is willing to travel from project to project, even beyond NC and TN if needed.

These projects are emergency landslide repairs so the candidate should be comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment, be a proactive problem solver, have leadership ability to manage on-site inspectors, knowledgeable of highway/bridge construction, and good communication skills serving as the client’s eyes and ears on-site.


Project Office Engineer (POE):
Project Name: Blue Ridge Parkway Landslide Repairs
Project location: The project work will be in McDowell, Mitchell and Yancey Counties, North Carolina. Field office is in Little Switzerland, North Carolina.
Project Type: The project consists of the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina from Milepost MP 229.6 to MP 305.1, with works including This project consists of slide repairs, culvert replacement, pavement reconstruction, pavement markings, and other miscellaneous work.
Position Description: One (1) Qualified Project Office Engineer (POE) to work closely and cooperatively with the Construction Operations Engineer (COE) and Project Engineer (PE) to provide construction contract administration support on a highway construction project. The POE shall be able to review Construction Contractor’s day to-day work and determine the acceptability in compliance with the contract, safety plan, environmental controls, construction methods and applicable laws and regulations. Review the construction schedule for compliance with the construction contract and for reasonableness using Primavera or other software, maintain accurate construction contract records and follow established records keeping processes. The POE shall review contractor monthly invoices, material submittals, shop drawings, As-Built drawings, contractor requests, and provide comments and/or recommendations to the PE. Reviews and recommends acceptance or rejection of daily reports submitted by the contractor. process submittals from receipt through approval and return to the Construction Contractor. The POE may be responsible for completing the Project Diary, Monthly Progress Estimate, Material Register, status reports, and seeing that project files are properly maintained and complete.
